Considering Genre

Our intentions:
We were pretty unsure of what we could do for our opening of a Movie as we did not have a start up point to develop. However the whole of our group wanted to do an upbeat and fast pace opening as we thought that it would be more interesting and thrilling to watch and it would be able to tell a lot of a story within 2 minutes as it would be filmed in a fast pace. The most common movies that consist of fast pace scenes are either horror or gangster movies. When we think of a horror movie we'd automatically associate it with horrendous creatures, blood, supernatural, or the typical story line of something chasing or after a human being. Through what we've learnt we know that horror movies are one of the most easiest genres to make a film out of compared to other genres like romance and thriller, and being inexperience students we wouldn't be able to act to these types of genres to a high standard. Thus we've decided to stick to a horror genre as it does not necessarily require any dialogue and high level of acting. 
What we did:In order to determine what genre we would settle down for and gain ideas to construct our story line to form our opening that would appeal to others we first carried some research and asked some students of our in age and some students from the years below what kind of films do they enjoy watching. After gathering some primary research we found out the a few students genuinely like to watch films with a lot of SFX as it is entertaining just to watch. Also, the majority we asked enjoy watching film genres such as Thriller and Horror. One student stated that it was because the the affects and editing makes it look so realistic but they know that in the end it is not real and is only made for our entertainment. 

What we are going to proceed with:
After asking other students on what kind of films they like watching we had come to the conclusion that we all have similar interest in the types of films we watch. This is because we are all within the same age bracket and the Movies we generally watch are specifically aimed at our age group e.g Horror. So our group has decided make our opening based on the genre: Supernatural/Mystery/Horror
